Tej’s journey into music began with an early fascination for rhythm, drawn to the tabla since childhood. Joining “The Toronto Tabla Ensemble” propelled him into Canada’s vibrant world music scene. Inspired by DJ culture in high school, he mastered turntablism while still honing his tabla skills.
After notable achievements including a Juno nomination and touring with “The Tea Party,” Tej focused on composing for television and film, earning credits in various projects. He later united his passions for live drumming and electronic music with the iDRUM Collective, captivating audiences in Toronto’s nightlife scene.
In 2008, Tej’s career soared internationally as principal percussionist in the “India Circus” by Cirque du Soleil’s Franco Dragone, touring Germany to sold-out shows. Today, based in Toronto, he continues to compose and collaborate, blending global rhythms with electronic beats for audiences worldwide.
