Maddy O’Regan is an Ottawa-based violinist and fiddler with over 25 years of practice and 12 years of professional freelance performing experience. Growing up with a foundation in classical violin, she has spent recent years recording, performing, and touring across Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, exploring different genres and cultivating a rich and diverse musical career.
She has had the privilege of performing for enthusiastic crowds on prestigious stages such as the RBC Bluesfest and the National Arts Centre and has performed alongside award-winning artists such as Moonfruits, Graham Lindsey, Jessica Pearson and The East Wind, and the Juno-nominated Métis artist, Amanda Rheaume.
From 2015 to 2021, Maddy was part of the Ottawa folk duo Jessica Pearson and the East Wind. Together, they toured both nationally and internationally, recording an EP and a full album. Their accolades include winning the “Songs from the Heart” award from Folk Music Ontario in 2021 and a nomination for “Group of the Year” by the Capital Music Awards. These years led to a growing passion for both folk music and the folk music scene, in which, amongst the many musicians, Maddy has become familiar and well-known.
Maddy has performed at numerous special events, including the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, and has been honoured to provide music for many weddings and proposals, tailoring each performance to create the perfect ambiance for each couple’s special day.
